What to expect during a Reiki session

Reiki is a non invasive alternative therapy that originated in Japan

Reiki works with the energetic, physical and emotional aspects of the individual to address imbalances on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being to promote a deep state of relaxation.


You will complete a confidential client history form that outlines the areas in your body and life that you would like the session to focus on. This will also help the practitioner monitor your progress from session to session.

Once you have asked any questions you have, you will lie fully clothed and relax. The Practitioner will place their hands above your body over various parts in a sequential method.

Normally a Reiki session lasts one hour.

During a Reiki session you may experience a sensation of heat or cold, see colours, having past life flashes, having involuntary movements, falling asleep, itchiness, emotional responses, rumbling stomach, memory flashes, pins and needles, sense your hands moving.

Any one of these reactions are normal.

Reiki will go wherever it is needed.

If you experiences nothing, it is anyway ok since Reiki energy often works on a subtle level.

After a Reiki Session you may experience heightened emotions, tiredness, sleepiness, vivid dreams. On a physical level you may experience thirst, more frequent urination, skin changes (spots), headaches, runny nose.

if you have any of these symptoms, do not worry because it will last shortly. It's part of the recovery process that leads you to a more deeply healed state. Even if it seems that things are getting worse, you will feel much better after they settle down.

If you don't have any of the above symptoms, don't worry either because the session worked as well.

To gain the most out of the Reiki Session, drink plenty of water to flush the toxins away and try to take it easy for at least the following 24 hours.

At the end of the session, you can discuss any questions you may have with the Practitioner.
